Staying at the Clarendon Inn was a wonderful experience. It is a lovely compromise between a bed and breakfast and a small hotel. It is conveniently located near all downtown activities - waterfront, restaurants, and shopping. And it is an excellent value for the money, especially with easy, free parking. The Innkeeper was fabulous-very warm and friendly and full of tips to maximize our enjoyment. The continental breakfast was delicious - some of the best Southern biscuits that I have had. The Inn was very quiet; and the bed, very comfortable. My husband and I highly recommend the Clarendon Inn.— Virginia. Spokane, WA
The staff was so wonderful, it felt like home!—Shayna, Malpa, NY
Michael, we stayed at the Clarendon Inn while traveling through the USA by Greyhound. I just wanted to tell you that you were the best innkeeper we met during our trip to the United States. New York and other big cities made a big impression, but it is Wilmington and your kind hospitality that warm my heart when I think back on our trip. We will definitely come back someday.—Camilla and Andreas, Sweden
Everything was perfect—super clean, nice people, excellent service.—Liz, Wake Forest, NC
Even as you enter the veranda, you begin to feel at ease. Inside this building of historical significance, you will find comfort, hospitality, and upgrades galore. Our family reserved the entire Inn, and we got so much more than we expected! Michael, the Innkeeper and man of a million talents, met us each morning with breakfast and stayed up with us around the piano until midnight singing old hymns. It's uncanny how quickly you'll feel you've come back to a place you've been to before. If it had to be described in one word... that word would be ‘comfort’; from the rooms, to the beds, to the common areas for catching up with family, to the shady veranda for enjoying a quiet afternoon in the South. It's an ironic blend of renovated comfort with flat screen televisions, refrigerators and microwaves in every room, and old world charm with the quiet, respectful calm that only an Inn can give. You'll go there looking for a room and breakfast, and leave with a new friend and a deep-seated desire to go back again.—Family from Nashville, TN
We have recently returned from a visit to Wilmington. The Clarendon Inn is a block or two from the downtown waterfront area of Wilmington. The Innkeeper, Michael, and his staff are superb! Loved the breakfast in the morning...the decor was outstanding, loved everything about the experience. We walked downtown, ate dinner and even heard Michael play the piano at a local piano bar--he has a great singing voice and we really enjoyed his friendly nature. This place is super clean, and every room has its own bathroom. We can't say enough about it; the pictures on their website don't do it justice--it is terrific!—Nancy and Sandy, Morehead City
My wife and I went to Wilmington recently for her birthday. I can't say enough about the Clarendon Inn...very nice facility, extremely clean, everything seemed brand new. The Inn is within walking distance to everything in historic downtown--shopping, restaurants, bars. We didn't feel like going to a bar so we just bought a bottle of wine from the store across the street and sat on the huge front porch in a porch swing, checking out the passers-by. Breakfast was good too: lots of options plus fresh scrambled eggs! We chose this place based on location, great rate, and willingness to offer a one-night stay (no minimums). We highly recommend it, and we will be staying here again!—Couple from Raleigh, NC
My NY family and I stayed in this beautiful Inn right in the heart of historical Wilmington North Carolina. The staff was exceptional and attentive. The rooms and premises were clean and neat. Walking distance to the river and restaurants makes it very convenient. I recommend this place to all. Do not be fooled by the low price; they should be charging a lot more! Jay, Long Island,
We booked the entire place for my wedding; my groomsmen and my wife's bridesmaids all stayed there. The rooms were clean and beautifully appointed.Where this place truly exceeds, however, is the impeccable service. Michael, the innkeeper is such a nice guy and he got me out of a jam by procuring a loudspeaker system at the last minute for our rehearsal dinner. He was accommodating and helpful to our wedding party all weekend. Breakfast was great, even though many of our party slept through it both Saturday and Sunday morning! He and his wife put so many personal touches into the weekend. We all agreed that anytime we need a place to stay (or need to put someone up) in Wilmington, The Clarendon will be the first place we call. Alex, Sunnyvale, CA
